About Suzanne Short
Suzanne Short was born in Dallas, Texas to Sam and Pauline Potter. Growing up in Texas in the '40s and '50s, Suzanne was exposed to the wisdom of her father, a self-made millionaire, who taught her the basic rules of a happy life. After earning an economics degree from Southern Methodist University, one of the first SMU women to achieve this accomplishment, she was hired as a systems analyst for Republic National Bank of Dallas.
When her first child was born, Suzanne started a new career as a stay-at-home mom. Sixteen years later, to help the family add college funding, Suzanne began a career as a realtor in Tampa, Florida, during the high interest rate environment of the early 1980s. Within three years, she became one of the top income-producing realtors in Tampa, and was featured in the "HOME" section of the Tampa Tribune for her outstanding performance.
A relocation took Suzanne and her family to Cleveland, Ohio, and a new career path as a stockbroker for Merril Lynch. In her first two years, she recieved two bonuses for outstanding asset accumulation, and became the national winner of the Merrill Lynch "The Breed Apart Campaign". She eventually joined a young mortgage company, Prime Lending and became one of Prime's top originators while helping the company become the largest independant broker in Texas.
Almost nine years later, Suzanne started her own business as a full-time distributor for Excel Communications, Inc. where she rapidly promoted herself in top leadership in the first year. As an Excel rep she created and organized leadership conferences nationwide and was recognized as a top trainer and speaker.
Suzanne recently completed her first book, Wisdom Daddy Taught Me: A Path from Poverty to Prosperity , which details the life lessons she was taught by her father. With her stories wrapped around the popular proverbs and adages of the '40s and '50s, Suzanne gently guides the reader through autobiographical vignettes that illustrate three core disciplines: character, attitude, and money.
Wisdom Daddy Taught Me blends the financial strategies of The Millionaire Next Door , the personal wisdom of Tuesdays with Morrie , and the winning style of Chicken Soup for the Soul. Read it and learn how The Millionaire Next Door Thinks and Grows Rich!
